Last week, I was asked to preach at church. Inspired by our recent heavy rains, I chose to talk about Noah and the Ark. I could reproduce the sermon here, but not sure anyone would really read it! Here are the few slides I used. Actually, I take that back. These are the slides I wanted to use, but the electricity was out! But they give you an idea of my train of thought:
Then I had a digression about “contentment.” These suggestions are from Mimi Wilson’s book-Holy Habits, which I recommend highly!
Then I encouraged people to think of other signs they have of God’s faithfulness. For example: our children:
And the hydropower project whom many thought would not be built, and is still producing power-thank you, Lord!
And the ultimate sign of God’s faithfulness: The Cross. I didn’t actually have this slide. I just pointed to the cross at the front of the church, and got a little choked up!
The King Family in Rwanda 
Dear Louise, Tim and I are driving to New York City with a little puppy in the back of my car to return him to John and Caroline. They have been in Italy for a special trip. As we drive, we have read your sermon and it chokes me up too! You have such a dear and loving heart and I treasure you as a friend and as a sister in Christ! I wonder how this year has been with all the children in school far away. It was a huge adjustment for Tim and me when Danny went off to college. I am sure you have read some about the empty nest syndrome. It is worth the effort required to knit our relationship tightly together again after all the years of making children a priority. Sometimes we have as much fun or more than we did when we were first dating. We will be moving to Puerto Rico in about seven weeks! We still don’t know where we will be living, or if we will have health insurance that allows us to get medical care in United States. Please praythat we will have coverage for care outside of Puerto Rico. I wonder what you and Caleb do for medical insurance? I send you much love and affection in Christ Jesus our Lord – Meg

Most timely and wonderful sermon and slides. Just talked with one of our CMJ missionaries from Jerusalem who landed last night in San Antonio to begin a US speaking tour. SA and Dallas are having torrential downpours and flash flooding today, so she was with one of my CMJ board members and wife driving to the hill country and higher ground. So your Ark story was most appropriate.

Greetings and blessings…
We are returning to Rwanda at the end of this week, and will be in Kigali at AEE for the first few days, then in Masaka, then heading to Gisenyi for the second week before flying out again on the 20th. Is there anything we can bring from the States that you would find especially helpful? If so, we will figure out how to get it to you. (Do I remember that you are near Ruhengeri?) If there is anything we can bring, please let us know.
