The Week in Review
Caleb returned safely from Kenya, where he a good and relaxing time with the kids-here is a picture from the Scripture Mission guest house where they stayed in Nairobi.
The BBC interview with Caleb came out-you can watch it at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90094313/BBC_World_News_2013-10-20_01-13-151.mp4 Caleb appears about 10 minutes into it. Here is a still shot of him. (He did a good job!)
The kids had a great “Harvest Party” for school-lots of fun games and good food-it’s just good to hang out with friends sometime. Special thanks to Christine Crowson who organized it!
On Saturday, Lydia had a successful “play date” with the daughter of a nurse with whom I work-Grace, who is also 11 years old. They had a good time, running around outside.
On Sunday, we were sad to say good bye to our Kenyan friend, Joab, who is returning to Kenya. He is a lovely Christian, who has been active in our church. We pray that he will find a new job soon-and maybe even return to Rwanda!
Here is another visitor we had on Sunday-a blind woman, Immaculee, and her baby. She has had some training in physical therapy, which we helped provide for, and Caleb helped her to get a job as a physical therapist for the Rwandan National Bike team, which is based around the corner from us. She is still having trouble making ends meet and she came to ask for advice.
Caleb wrote a letter for her to take to the Roman Catholic Center for handicapped children, to see if they could provide her with a place to stay. We’ll see what happens!
Our Sunday ended with a potluck dinner for missionaries-we enjoyed watching some of the Bible DVD series section on David. After we saw it, we read together Psalm 51, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” This is our prayer for us individually and in Rwanda as a whole.
Speaking of prayers, please pray for my parents, Bill and Lydia, as they travel to Niger this week for a medical missions trip.
